Train-station private-car pickup in mainland China

A rail pickup on this site is a private car and a driver who meet you after you leave the platform with your bags. It is not a self-drive rental, and it is not a taxi you hail at the rank. China On Call does not sell the train ticket, and the page does not show a rate. The quote comes back on WhatsApp after the arrival is specific enough to match.

Name the station, not only the city

Several cities on this site have more than one rail station, and some tickets print a station that is not the one next to your hotel. If you only write the city, the coordinator has to guess the curb. Send the station name printed on the ticket — in Chinese characters if you have them, or the English form that matches the ticket — not “Shanghai station” when the ticket says Hongqiao, and not “Beijing” when the ticket says Beijing South.

Shanghai — Hongqiao vs Shanghai Station

Shanghai Hongqiao (虹桥) and Shanghai Station (上海站) are different meets and different drives into the same districts. Hongqiao often shares a hub with air. The rail exit and the airport curb are still not the same brief. Say rail meet or airport meet, not “Shanghai pickup.” Write the station name from the ticket, the train number, the scheduled arrival in China local time, and how many large bags. Beijing — South, Station, West, and others

Beijing South, Beijing Station, Beijing West, and Beijing Chaoyang (and other gates that appear on tickets) are not interchangeable. A driver matched to South will not be waiting at West. Write the station name on the ticket, not only “Beijing high-speed.” City notes: Beijing guides.

Other stations with more than one gate

Guangzhou South versus Guangzhou Station, Chengdu East versus Chengdu Station, and Xi'an North versus Xi'an Station follow the same rule: ticket station name first. When in doubt, paste the station line from the booking into WhatsApp.

How a rail meet differs from an airport meet

At an airport the usual meet is after baggage claim, with immigration time for international arrivals. At a high-speed rail station you walk out sooner, but exit numbering and north/south plazas matter. If you already know the exit (for example Exit 5 or the North Square), send it. If you do not, say so. We confirm a workable door once the train is real.

Delays on rail are often shorter than flight slips, but a stopped train still needs a note in the same WhatsApp thread. Do not open a second booking. Early arrivals are the same kind of note: the driver is matched to a window, not to a rumor on the arrivals board.

What to send before you ride

Exact station name from the ticket (not only the city), and the exit or plaza if you know it.
Train number and scheduled arrival time in China local time.
Whether you are arriving with through bags from an earlier flight, or only cabin bags from a day trip.
Party size, ages of children, and the number of large bags.
Hotel area, or the next station or dock if you are not going to a hotel.
A WhatsApp number that still receives messages when you walk out.
The language you want at the curb. A driver may only manage the meet. Ask for a guide if you want the ride or the city explained.

Bags, children, and the vehicle

Count people and large bags together. A sedan that is comfortable for two travelers with cabin bags is the wrong shape for a family, a stroller, and three checked cases. Say if anyone needs the front seat, or cannot manage stairs from the platform to the plaza. Folding wheelchairs and extra child seats have to be asked for. Do not assume they are in the trunk.

The station and the rest of the day

A morning arrival into a central station can sometimes continue as a city day. A late evening train plus an outer site is usually two jobs. Say both if you want both. We would rather split them than sell a day that starts in the exit hall.

What if the train is late?

Can one car do the station and a full sightseeing day?

Sometimes, when the arrival is early and the sites are close. A late train plus an outer site is usually two jobs. Name both and we will split them if the day is too long.

Will the driver speak my language?

Are Hongqiao rail and Hongqiao airport the same meet?
